Start your journey from Marrakech early in the morning, crossing the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n’Tichka pass (2260m). Enjoy breathtaking views of the mountains and Berber villages along the way. Stop for photos and visit a local argan oil cooperative to learn about this Moroccan specialty. Continue to Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site and famous filming location for movies like Gladiator and Game of Thrones. Explore this ancient fortified village before having lunch. In the afternoon, drive through the Valley of Roses and the Dades Valley with its stunning rock formations. Arrive at your hotel in Dades Valley for dinner and overnight stay.
After breakfast, drive along the “Road of the Thousand Kasbahs” to Todra Gorges. Walk through the impressive canyon with its towering rock walls. Continue to the Sahara Desert, arriving in Merzouga in the afternoon. Here, you’ll mount your camels for a trek across the Erg Chebbi dunes to reach your desert camp. Enjoy the sunset over the dunes, a traditional Berber dinner, and entertainment with drum music around the campfire under the stars. Spend the night in a private tent at the desert camp.
Wake up early to witness a spectacular sunrise over the dunes. After breakfast at the camp, ride camels back to Merzouga village. Begin your journey to Fes, passing through the Ziz Valley with its vast palm groves. Stop in Midelt for lunch, nestled between the Middle and High Atlas Mountains. Continue through the cedar forests of the Middle Atlas, where you might see Barbary macaques. Pass through the Berber town of Ifrane, known as the “Switzerland of Morocco,” before arriving in Fes in the late afternoon. Drop off at your hotel, marking the end of your 3-day desert adventure.
