How many days do I need for a desert tour from Marrakech?
Merzouga is about 560 km from Marrakech, so 3 days is the minimum for a comfortable trip with one night in the dunes. With 4 or 5 days you drive shorter stages and can add a full day in the Sahara. If you only have 2 days, the Zagora desert is the closer option.
What is the difference between Merzouga and Zagora?
Merzouga sits at the foot of Erg Chebbi, the highest sand dunes in Morocco, but needs at least 3 days from Marrakech. Zagora can be done in 2 days and has smaller dunes, palm groves and kasbahs along the Draa Valley.
